January 2016
Our first meeting of the year was a New Year Sunday lunch at The Strickland Arms and twenty four of us enjoyed a very tasty meal. There was much talk of our up and coming events especially the May weekend in Northumberland, but as I write this the remnants of storm Jonas is lashing at the windows and howling down the chimney……..spring seems a long way off!!!!

December
Not a lot to report as December has been a quiet month for the club. Fortunately we were able to hold our final meeting of the year before the area was flooded as a result of Storm Desmond. The meeting was well attended and we spent time finalising events for 2016, details can be found on the programme page.
"A Merry Christmas and a peaceful & prosperous New year to all."

November run
Back by
popular demand was a visit to Barrow's Dock Museum. Given that we'd had several
weeks of heavy rain and high winds we weren’t very optimistic of having a dry
day for the run and even decided to use our “every day” cars if necessary. But
on Sunday the 22nd November eight cars
met under blue skies at Booths Car Park Ulverston. We used the same route as
last year via Bardsea, on to Birkrigg Common then through Scales and Stainton
arriving at Furness Abbey. After a quick stop we headed to the Dock Museum for
coffee. Unfortunately there was a vintage fayre being held in the museum so
there was not only a shortage of parking places but a shortage of toasted tea
cakes!! Suitably refreshed we set off
for a tour of Walney Island before arriving at The Clarks Hotel, Rampside for
lunch.
So that was
2015…….bring on 2016! Have a great year everyone.
