Another new member joined us for our monthly meeting on the 3rd July. With this years calendar more or less sorted we are now working on next years. We have chosen  Inverary  as our holiday destination and there’s a return trip to Jersey booked which will include a visit to Jersey International Motoring Festival.

But back to this year, on the 22nd July six cars including a lovely nightfire red MGRV8, a first for the club, set off from Sizergh at 10am and drove the A6 through Kendal and via Shap summit to Lowther Castle for a coffee stop were Colin and Carol were waiting for us in the lovely warm courtyard which had been upgraded with trees and tables etc since our last visit. Seven cars set off and roughly followed the route of the River Eden all the way to Carlisle Airport Museum  via Wetheral and Warwick Bridge. We looked round the inside exhibits first then had a picnic lunch outside in the sunshine. At the designated time we were met at the Vulcan Bomber and invited 5 at a time to go up the ladder and view inside the cockpit, where one of the enthusiastic volunteers gave us a talk and answered our questions. We made our way back to the other outdoor exhibits, such as a Lightening, which Mick used to work on, and a Phantom, Hunter and various others finally leaving at 4.30pm. Colin and Carol, Mick and Barbara headed straight home and the remaining 5 cars had a final stop at the George and dragon for a drink before driving south down the A6 and home.

June 2018

We had a very pleasant evening run on the 27th. Eight cars came from all directions to meet at the Newfield Inn at Seathwaite in the Duddon Valley for drinks and a chat. The skies were clear and the scenery stunning and we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset on the journey home.

Earlier this month six members enjoyed a four day holiday in Jersey. The weather was warm and sunny and they spent three days exploring, in their MG’s, the islands many attractions such as the War Tunnels, Elizabeth Castle, and Jersey Pearl and many more besides. Preliminary plans are being considered for a return journey next year.

We welcomed two new member to the club at our monthly meeting. Also, we congratulate Mick and Barbara on their recent marriage and we wish them many happy years together.

May 2018

            On the 27th April 6 cars met at Cafe Ambio at junct 36 of the M6 to start our long weekend in the Peak District.  A route had been planned avoiding motorways, so we headed south east on the A65. Turning right at Long Preston we continued through Barnoldswick, Colne,past Widdop reservoir to Hebdon Bridge.  After long delays due to road works we stopped for lunch at Newbank Garden Centre at Elland. Once through Huddersfield we could relax and enjoy the rest of the journey to Holmfirth, Glossop then the Snake Pass. Our final destination was The Yorkshire Bridge Inn at Barnforth. The following two days were spent exploring the area visiting places such as Hadden Hall and Hardwick Hall. On our way home we visited the three reservoirs in the Derwent Valley one of which, the Derwent ,was used by the “Dambusters’ for practice before their mission in Germany in WW2.   

On the Sunday we were away the ‘remainers’ met for lunch at The Mortal Man at Troutbeck.  

            On the 20th May another run was planned but due to holidays etc only 3 cars took part. Two cars left Sizergh travelling through South Lakes villages towards the Lakeland Motor Museum meeting with Colin & Carol for coffee. Then it was more back roads to Torver, over Dunnerdale, Birker Fell, Corney Fell and back to Torver for lunch at Church House inn.

         Also earlier in May four members took part in the ‘Kimber Run’
