Our first meeting of the year was held on the 3rd Feb at
our new venue The Strickland Arms at Sizergh. It was well attended
including some new faces and a visit by
a member of the Fylde MG Club. It was suggested at the meeting that we should
have a short drive to start the year to put us in the mood for what promises to
be a busy year. So with the days still being short a local run around Cartmel
was suggested by Martin who volunteered to be the organiser. It was advertised
as the “Sticky Toffee Pudding Run” after the famous Cartmel pudding. Thanks
must go to Martin for organising the run and giving me the route details as I
couldn’t take part due to illness. Four cars left Witherslack on a bright sunny
morning some with their tops down. After driving under the A590 the cars headed
for Ulpha then onto Grange passing the golf course. It was then on to Humphrey
Head, Flookburgh, Cartmel & Cark ……….but not necessarily in that order !! The intention was to have a
coffee stop at Holker Hall but finding it closed it was decided to go to The
Lakeland Motor Museum cafe at Backbarrow. Unfortunately Brian’s car developed a
throttle cable problem so he was left behind to re- join the group later at The
Royal Oak. The remaining cars continued up Brow Edge and on to The Royal Oak at
Lindale for lunch. Sue
