High Pennines run

June turned out to be a busy month for the club. We combined our monthly meeting with a short drive around the lanes and villages south of Kendal before returning to the Strickland Arms for the usual drink and chat only to find there was a power cut and we were met by a strong smell of candles and a warm cosy glow throughout the pub.
On the 7th June we all met again for a much longer drive. Eight cars set off following the A6 north stopping again at Lowther Castle for coffee and scones. We continued on to Penrith then took the scenic and popular A686 to Alston trying to avoid numerous cyclists and motor cyclists on the way. It was then across the North Pennines to Stanhope, Middleton in Teesdale and finally our lunch stop at the Strathmore Arms Holwick. We returned home via Brough and Tebay where we went our seperate ways.
