Our first event of July was the Leighton Hall Classic Car Show. Eight
cars lined up behind our club banner hoping the showers that were forecast
stayed away. They did until 3.30 then the heavens opened.
We met as usual for our monthly meeting. As it was John B’s birthday Alex
supplied a very large and delicious cake which we all tucked into after a
rendition of “Happy Birthday”.
A Sunday drive was planned for the 26th
and Colin & Carol once again took us on a tour of West Cumbria. Nine cars
met at Broughton in Furness under grey skies. We were taken over Corney Fell
before stopping at The Byre in Bootle for coffee. Suitably refreshed we headed
north through Ennerdale, passed Loweswater over Honister Pass through
Borrowdale and on to Bassenthwaite for lunch at The Castle Inn Hotel. After
lunch we returned home by a slightly different route via Calder
Bridge,Eskdale Green over Birker Fell to Ulpha then back to Broughton.
