March 2017

Our monthly meeting was on the 7th and was well attended. In anticipation of there perhaps being a break in the clouds we planned a run for the 19th. No such luck!  It was raining heavily and had been for several days so we turned to plan B and left the MG’s at home and used our “normal cars”.  Jim and Maz had planned a route so seven cars left Sizergh and we splashed our way along the A65 to the Ireby Green Farm cafe for a coffee stop. Reluctantly we left the dry and warmth of the cafe before the next leg of the drive. We doubled back to Kirkby Lonsdale then north to the A683, B6257 and on to the A685.  Jim had found some unmarked (muddy!) lanes that eventually took us to Culgaith near Penrith for lunch at Mrs Miller’s a lovely restaurant  in the grounds of The Hazel Dene Garden Centre. Well worth a visit. We plan a return journey in the MG’s when the weather is more suitable. Our drive home was via the A6. Thanks go to Jim and Maz for organising  the run.  It just now leaves Jim to wash the mud off the cars!!!!         Sue
