Even though there were fewer members than usual at this months meeting
we still managed to make plans for a trip to North Yorkshire in September with
an overnight stay.
Meanwhile on the 23rd July we enjoyed a drive through Cumbria
organised by Roger and Colin. Lead by Roger and Sue seven cars left Sizergh
Castle and took the A591 through the heart of the Lake District to Bothel north
of Bassenthwaite where we met Colin and Carol at The Craggs Cafe. After coffee Roger and Sue and lead us through the country
lanes and villages to Burgh by Sands on the Solway Firth, we then followed the
coastal route to Silloth. It was an area we hadn’t covered before and
thoroughly enjoyed the drive. Breaking with tradition of having a pub lunch we
opted for a picnic instead. We’d just about finished eating when it started to
drizzle, so we packed up and Colin and Carol took over, leading us south to St Bees. The plan was to have a
walk on the seafront at St Bees and perhaps an ice cream but the rain put a
stop to that….although a few managed the ice cream! With no sign of the
rain easing we headed for home. Thanks to Roger & Colin for planning the
route. Sue
