October 2018

Our monthly meeting was held as usual and was well attended. A venue for the New Years lunch has been decided and booked. Next years calendar and a change of monthly meeting venue is still under discussion.
We had our last run of the year on the 21st. John and Alex had volunteered to plan a route and as usual we met at Sizergh for a 10.30 departure. The weather was disappointingly damp and drizzly so some members opted to use their “normal” cars.
Six cars left Sizergh, another  would catch up with us at our coffee stop which was to be Farfield Mill at Sedbergh. The weather did not improve as we made our way through the minor roads and lanes past Killington Lake to join the A684 to Sedbergh.
After coffee and a little retail therapy seven cars left for the second stage of the route. We continued on the main road to Hawes where we turned right past the creamery, through Gayle and onto Langstrothdale. We were promised beautiful views but as the mist refused to lift we had to use our imagination. Our destination was Buckden and lunch at The Buck Inn.
Our return journey was via the B6160 to Aysgarth back to Hawes then through Ribbledale. By this time the clouds had given way to sunshine. After a photo by the Ribblehead Viaduct we went our separate ways. Thanks to John and Alex for another enjoyable run…..but better weather next time please!!
