Our monthly meeting was held on the 5th October and we soon got down to the business of organising next years calendar. It is more or less what we had planned for last year except we are now, hopefully, going to the Isle of Man in May instead of September.
The venue for our New Year lunch was chosen and is now booked.
It seemed a shame not to fit in another run before winter so a last minute suggestion was made by Roger to re-visit the Solway Aviation Museum at Carlisle. Six cars left Sizergh at 10am and with Roger and Sue in the lead we headed north. It would have been so easy just to use the M6 all the way to Carlisle but in true MG fashion we took the scenic A6 as far as High Hesket where we downgraded to minor roads which took us to the Houghton Hall Garden Centre where Bob and Sheila were waiting to join us for coffee. Suitably refreshed we then took the short drive to the museum. After looking round all the exhibits we were invited to line up our cars in front of the Vulcan Bomber for a group photo, which was later to appear on the museum’s Facebook page. There were volunteers on hand to offer information and to answer any questions. By this time the blustery winds and showers got the better of us so we continued onto the warmth of The Duke of Cumberland at Castle Carrock where Martin and Brenda joined us for a much needed lunch. We returned home via the same route. Thanks again to Roger and Sue for getting us there and back and to Alex for organising the refreshments.
We wish you all a Very Merry Christmas!
