March 2016

After a very soggy winter March is proving to be quite a dry month. There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting although some members were an hour late due to an accident on the A590. Everyone was eager to get their MG’s out for a run so we opted for a Sunday lunch with a short run beforehand, weather permitting. Five cars met at the Royal Oak, Lindale and under brightening skies we followed Martin and Brenda towards Meathop then on to Grange. By this time the sun was shining so the gamble that some took to go topless paid off. Leaving Grange we drove through Allithwaite, Flookburgh and Cark where we turned right towards Cartmel, home of the famous Sticky Toffee Pudding. We then joined the B5278 to Holker Hall for our coffee stop. Suitably refreshed we rejoined the B5278 (locally known as Holker Mosses) towards Bigland Hall through back roads to the Royal Oak at Lindale. Martin said “it might be a bit muddy in places” and he wasn’t wrong. Some serious car washing would be needed later!  When we arrived at the Royal Oak eight more members were sitting in the warm sunshine waiting to join us for lunch. Thanks go to Martin and Brenda for organising a very pleasant start to the season.
