August 2019

August started with our monthly meeting on the 6th. We didn’t manage to fit in a run this month but eight members in four cars attended the Llandudno MGOC annual gathering. Another successful event which they all enjoyed. When you own a classic car you do expect the occasional hiccup but what you do not expect is to be flagged down by a fire engine and told “ there is smoke coming out of the back of your car ” which is what happened to Robert and Lesley on the way to Llandudno, it actually turned out to be steam not smoke.
The rest of the weekend went without a hitch.
There is a run planned for next month when everyone should be back from holiday.

July 2019

July has been a quiet time for the club. There were a few more members at this months meeting than last months but i think holidays are still affecting attendance.
We still managed a tulip run on the 14th which John and Kathy had organised. It was a local route and in two parts.  As there were only four cars we followed in convoy on part one. Leaving Sizergh we headed south over The Mosses towards Milnthorpe and then through Sandside to  Arnside finishing at Holgates Caravan Park for coffee. We then set off for part two using the tulip. Leaving Holgates we headed west through Silverdale, Yealand and over the M6 (or was it under ?) then north through various small villages back to Sizergh. But we had not finished yet as there was still a northen loop to navigate through Brigsteer, Crook and through the Lythe Valley finishing at the Gilpin Bridge Inn for lunch. We didn’t cover many miles but it was quite challenging. Despite a few wrong turns  everyone arrived for lunch on time.  Thanks John and Kathy for your hard work organising the run.
