Welsh holiday report

Our chosen destination for this years holiday was North Wales and 8 cars were booked into The Royal Goat,Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park. Half the group wanted to visit the Pontcysylite Aqueduct on the Llangollen Canal and travelled down on Thursday whilst the remaining 4 cars followed on Friday. Once everyone had arrived at The Royal Goat and checked in we wined and dined  and discussed our plans for the next 2 days. Saturday turned out to be cold and wet a complete change from the previous day. Half the group chose to take the steam train to Caernarfon to explore the castle whilst the rest of us decided to visit “Electric Mountain” at Llanberis. This meant driving the Llanberis Pass and even when shrouded in mist is quite spectacular. Having booked our tour of “Electric Mountain” for later in the day we spent the rest of the day in the National Slate Museum which meant we could escape the heavy rain. After being suitably educated in the mining of slate and hydro electricity power we made our way back to the warmth of our hotel to catch up with the rest of the group. Sunday promised to be a much brighter day, blue skies and sunshine were forecast. It was decided to explore Anglesey, Jim & Maz are frequent visitors to Anglesey so they volunteered to lead the way. The Menai Strait was crossed via the Britannia Bridge and a clockwise route was taken around the island. We accidentally came across the Newborough Motor Museum which conveniently had a cafe. A light lunch was taken at The Valley Hotel before continuing to Bull Bay then back to the main land via the Menai Bridge and the Llanberis Pass to Beddgelert. We were not going to  leave Beddgelert without sampling one of a large selection of ice cream at the local ice cream parlour. All too soon our holiday was over. We once again split into smaller groups for the return journey home.
